Summer Games Fest just announced the return of Tony Haw’s Pro Skater in the form of a 4K remastered collection bringing together the first two games. Geoff Keighley was joined by Jen Oneal, of Vicarious Visions, and Tony Hawk himself to discuss what’s new and what’s returning when this game drops September 4th.

Vicarious Visions, developers of the remastered Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, is heading development on Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2. The game’s control scheme will be familiar to those who played the original two games, and a collection of tricks collected from throughout the series will create a fresh experience. The improved visuals of the classic levels will also be a treat to those who played the originals, “We stayed pretty true to the tricks, and the maps. We didn’t really want to mess with that,” Tony Hawk explained during the reveal.

Split screen multiplayer will still be blessing our screens in 2020, Jen Oneal confirmed, ensuring the survival of couch co-op in a post-stay-at-home society. Until then, however, players will be able to enjoy Create-A-Park mode, where a suite of level design tools can be used to create an entirely original skate park. These parks can be shared online for the entire world to enjoy. The customization options allow for the manipulation of every component —so yes, you can make a grind rail that loops like a roller coaster, or even a ramp that stretches to the ceiling. Think Super Mario Maker, but with skateboards. Create-A-Skater will also be in the game, with options to customize everything about your skater and your skateboard.

You can pre-order the game beginning today and receive access to a short demo at a later date where you can skate around the classic Warehouse level from the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater.

“It’s kind of like your Pizza Hut promotional disk,” — Tony Hawk

That’s one of the coolest things I’ve ever heard.
