First details dropped for Apex Legends Season 4
Respawn Entertainment hosted a developer live stream earlier today ahead of Apex Legends’ one year anniversary. They revealed the first bits of information for the game’s upcoming fourth season. Polygon’s Austen Goslin writes:
“ The new character, Forge, is an up-close-and-personal brawler. As a former MMA champion, it seems likely that Forge’s abilities will focus on letting him get close to enemies and handle things with his fists rather than a gun.”
Respawn followed up the close range brawler with news of a new long range bolt-action sniper rifle called Sentinel. They also revealed a few cosmetic rewards that can be earned by participating in Season 4 when it starts on February 4th.
Rocket League stops supporting Mac and Linux
Psyonix, developers behind Rocket League, announce that beginning March 2020 they will no longer be supporting online services for the game on Mac and Linux platforms. This comes from Ryan Gilliam at Polygon:
“ In an announcement posted to Steam, Psyonix said, ‘As we continue to upgrade Rocket League with new technologies, it is no longer viable for us to maintain support for the macOS and Linux (SteamOS) platforms. As a result, the final patch for the macOS and Linux versions of the game will be in March.’ ”
Disco Elysium launches Hardcore Mode
Winner of the 2019 Best Role Playing Game award at The Game Awards, Disco Elysium boasts a new Hardcore Mode that seasoned players can jump into. The mode rewards a bit more experience in exchange for a series of changes designed to create a challenging experience.
“ For starters, the difficulty of every Check goes up, meaning your chances of failure are much higher, and money is considerably harder to come by too (expect to value your few possessions more than ever). Making matters worse, pharmaceutical costs are increased and their effectiveness is reduced,” (Wales, 2020).
The new mode comes alongside ultrawide monitor support and a limited 20% off the game on Steam.
