Welcome to The Daily Reset. A chill article series where I try and bring y’all the biggest headlines for the day, at the end of the day, so you can wind down and enjoy a relaxing night while keeping up-to-date on what’s going on in the games industry.

Okay.

People have played Doom: Eternal, and they have opinions.

The release date of the sequel to Doom (2016) is fast-approaching, and outlets have enjoyed a small taste of what Doom: Eternal is bringing to the table. The first three hours of the game have been well-received by players, with a universal praise for its cray combat and fast-paced action.

“ While three hours is just a slice of the full game, it’s hard to deny that it’s extremely well-put-together” (Higham, 2020).

The first-person shooter is set to drop in a few months on March 20th, the same day as Nintendo’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The craziest one-two punch the games industry has ever seen.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot underwhelms.

The Dragon Ball franchise boasts a jaw-dropping amount of video game adaptations since its inception in 1984. While most have (obviously) been fighting games, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is an open-world action RPG. Unlike the previous Dragon Ball RPG’s, Kakarot has players experiencing the events of the anime while playing as its main characters in an open environment full of quests to complete and enemies to farm experience from. The game dropped January 17, 2020 and players have already experienced most of what the game has to offer.

“ …while it’s backed by extremely solid combat, it also comes with major drawbacks like poorly implemented RPG mechanics, a general lack of polish, and some disappointingly shallow and repetitive sidequests” (Saltzman, 2020).

It seems the general consensus is that while the game is gorgeous and a love letter to the original series, Capcom seems to have pushed out a project with amazing potential that tragically under-performed.

Shoutout to Gohan.

That’s it. Catch you tomorrow, peace.
